The Vale Resort in Hensol has been named Wales’ best golf hotel and best resort spa for the second year running by an international awards body that recognises excellence in tourism.
The Vale Resort in Hensol has been named Wales’ best golf hotel and best resort spa for the second year running by an international awards body that recognises excellence in tourism - and has also earned itself a coveted place in the first edition of Lonely Planet’s Wellness Escapes book.
The four-star hotel and leisure venue, in the Vale of Glamorgan, was named Wales’ Best Golf Hotel 2018 at the 5th annual World Golf Awards, held at La Manga Club, Spain.
The Vale Spa was also named Wales' Best Resort Spa 2018 at the 4th annual World Spa Awards, held at the St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort in the southern Dhaalu Atoll. The resort won both titles in 2017, too.
Both ceremonies are organised by the World Travel Awards to recognise the best in travel and leisure, which have been described by the Wall Street Journal as the ‘Oscars of the travel industry’. In both awards, votes are cast by professionals working within each industry and by members of the public.
The Lonely Planet Wellness Escapes guide is a round-up of wellness holiday hotspots from around the world. Divided into five chapters, including Active, Calm, Healthy, Indulged and Inspired, the book features reviews of almost 200 leading destinations from across the globe – from yoga retreats in India to Buddhist meditation temples in Korea.
